Becoming Mother Nature Synopsis
When the tumult that seems to follow 12-year-old Chloe Lovejoy wherever she goes becomes too much for her cringey mom in Cleveland, Ohio, her mother sends her halfway across the country to live with her quirky Grandma Ivy in Morro Bay, California. As tempestuous Chloe struggles to adjust to a new city, new kids and a new school, Grandma Ivy reveals her deepest secret: she is Mother Nature, and Chloe is next in line for the awesome job, which must remain secret at all costs. But before Chloe’s training can even begin, tragedy strikes and the remarkable role is thrust upon her. As Chloe struggles to balance the pressures of her complicated personal life, she must learn to handle the immense power and responsibility of balancing the forces of nature. But there is someone else who covets the superpower, and is close to uncovering her secret.
The Natureverse series is popular in 3rd to 5th and 6th to 8th grade level classrooms, and each of the seasons – Becoming Mother Nature and Cupid and the Reaper (10 episodes each season) – can be taught independently. Becoming Mother Nature is used in classrooms as part of an ELA and Natural World curriculum.
